Dr. Sergei Shirman, DMD
Founder
Dr. Sergei Shirman developed a passion for dentistry at the age of twelve, combining his artistic interests with his medical aspirations. He attributes his appreciation for the artistry of dentistry to one of the most fulfilling aspects of his profession.
Dr. Shirman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Cleveland State University. During his undergraduate studies, he
actively participated in a genetic research project that was subsequently published in a scientific journal. He graduated from Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine in the top five, receiving Academic Commendation and Dean’s Award recognition for his outstanding academic achievements. Subsequently, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Olin E. Teaque VA Hospital, Temple, Texas.
Dr. Shirman has been a member of the International Association for Orthodontics and has completed a tier advancement educational program titled “Straight Wire Orthodontics.” He has also received training at the Academy Of Facial Esthetics. Additionally, he is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the North Carolina Dental Society. He holds a membership with the CDOCS, a digital dentistry education community.
Furthermore, Dr. Shirman has completed training in implant dentistry with the Engel Implant Institute , hands-on continuing education academy for dentists, enabling them to acquire advanced expertise in placing and restoring dental implants with predictable and precise outcomes.
Over the course of his decade-long career as a dentist, Dr. Shirman has witnessed firsthand the profound impact that dental care can have on individuals’ lives. The transformative experiences he observes in his patients are truly gratifying for him. Notably, he takes great pleasure in alleviating the fear and apprehension that many patients experience during dental visits.
In 2005, Dr. Shirman was blessed with the marriage of his wife, Oksana. Together, they are raising their three daughters, Maria, Sophia, and Anastasia. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Shirman enjoys engaging in activities such as aviation, running, mountain and road cycling.
Oksana , CPA
CFO
Oksana holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting and is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She joined the dental field upon her marriage to Dr. Sergei Shirman while he was still a student doctor at Case School of Dental Medicine. Currently, she is responsible for ensuring that the Dental Wellness team consistently delivers the high standard of care they adhere to.
Oksana’s primary responsibility is business management, both behind the scenes and in assisting patients in achieving their goals. She also enjoys brightening patients’ days by presenting them with unexpected gifts.
When not at work, Oksana can be found hiking in the woods with her dog, Simba. She aspires to take her dream vacation, a cruise around the world. An interesting fact about Oksana that may not be widely known is her passion for belly dancing.
Elvis
Practice Manager
For over a decade, Elvis has been the reassuring voice that helps patients feel at home, long before they ever step into the chair. With extensive dental administrative experience, supporting cosmetic, general, sedation, and implant dentistry, Elvis guides patients with warmth, clarity, and a deep understanding of what they need to feel confident in their care.
What Elvis enjoys most is seeing how much a great dental experience can change the way someone feels, not just about their smile, but about themselves. From the first phone call, he makes it a priority to ensure patients feel heard, respected, and fully informed. Many patients share how his calm tone and thoughtful answers helped ease their nerves and made the entire process less overwhelming.
Elvis is known for his exceptional communication skills and attention to detail, two qualities that help him anticipate patients' needs and ensure every interaction feels personal. Whether explaining treatment plans, scheduling visits, or answering questions, he does it all with genuine care.
Outside the office, Elvis enjoys traveling with his husband and long-haired dachshund, Noodle. Together, they love exploring new places and discovering exciting new foods wherever they go, turning every trip into a flavorful adventure.
Elvis believes every patient deserves to feel seen and supported. His goal is to make sure that no one ever feels like “just another appointment”, because to him, every person matters.
Irina
Patient Solutions Partner
With over 11 years of experience in the dental field and a background in law, Irina brings a unique blend of professionalism, empathy, and clear communication to her role as Patient Solutions Partner. She is often the bridge between clinical care and patient understanding, helping people make informed decisions about their oral health with confidence and compassion.
She thrives on building relationships and takes pride in helping patients truly understand why their treatment is important, not just what it is.
Known for her kind heart and empathetic nature, Irina has a natural gift for making people feel comfortable, heard, and supported. Whether she’s discussing treatment plans or simply listening to a patient’s concerns, her thoughtful presence is always felt.
Outside the office, Irina finds peace and inspiration by visiting the ocean, where she can slow down, recharge, and reflect.
For Irina, every patient interaction is more than a task; it’s an opportunity to connect, educate, and make someone’s day a little easier.
Lizbeth
Patient Coordinator
Lizbeth has been in the dental field since 2019 and is the first face you'll see when you arrive at Dental Wellness of Charlotte. She enjoys educating patients about their dental health and appreciates that continuing education is a priority to Dr. Shirman and the team at Dental Wellness.
Lizbeth likes trying new restaurants, taking day trips to explore new places, and spending time outdoors when she's not taking care of patients. A fun fact that people may not know about Lizbeth is that she enjoys jogging early in the morning to catch the sunrise!
Vera , CDA2, EFDA
Certified Dental Assistant
Vera received her training at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY, and Stark State College in Canton, OH. She's been in the dental field since 2008 and is one of the founding members of the Dental Wellness team.
Vera is passionate about helping people; she loves seeing her patients smile! She appreciates the variety of each day at the dental office, as it always brings something new, and she loves connecting with her patients and team as they all become like family.
Outside of the dental office, Vera loves to travel, cycle, play beach volleyball, and read, and she's even taught herself how to crochet! A fun fact that people may not know about Vera is that she's very artistic.
Alena , CDA2, RDA
Registered Dental Assistant
Bringing over a decade of hands-on experience to her role, Alena brings skill, compassion, and a calming presence to every appointment. A graduate of the Dental Assisting Institute in Washington State, she has supported dentists chairside in general dentistry, oral surgery, and orthodontics, always with the goal of making patients feel comfortable and cared for.
Alena was drawn to dentistry because of its unique ability to restore both health and confidence. For her, helping someone smile again isn’t just rewarding, it’s why she comes to work every day.
Known for her gentle touch and kind nature, Alena creates a space where patients feel safe, understood, and at ease. She listens closely to their concerns and takes the time to make sure they feel truly listened to and empowered to take the next step in their care.
Outside the office, Alena loves reading and spending time near the water, whether it’s swimming, relaxing at the beach, or enjoying a quiet lakeside view.
Alena believes that a positive dental experience starts with trust and connection. She’s proud to be part of a team that puts people first, one smile at a time.
Andreea , RDH
Registered Dental Hygienist
With over 19 years of experience in dental hygiene, Andreea began her career in Troy, Michigan, and has been dedicated ever since to helping patients achieve and maintain optimal oral and overall health. Her gentle approach, attention to detail, and commitment to personalized care have made her a trusted and valued provider among her patients.
Outside the dental office, Andreea finds joy in hiking waterfall trails with her two sons, playing pickleball with her husband and friends, exploring creative outlets like crocheting and painting, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. She also enjoys opportunities to inspire others through motivational speaking.
