Using CEREC technology, Dr. Shirman will capture a 3-D image of your tooth and design a restoration for it. Then, we'll send the information directly to a milling machine located in our office that fabricates your high-quality porcelain crown to Dr. Shirman's exact specifications.

The Airflow Prophylaxis Master is a multifaceted and innovative technology used in various dental treatments. Digital x-rays are an invaluable tool that Dr. Shirman uses to diagnose dental problems as early as possible. Taking x-rays each year provides a baseline that we can use to monitor your dental health and spot new concerns right away.

Taking digital images provides a tool that Dr. Shirman can use to help you make the best decisions about your dental care. In addition, the images are immediately available and easily shared with other providers if needed. 

Digital x-rays are safer for our patients as they emit 80 percent less radiation than film x-rays. They're also safer for the environment since we don't need any chemicals for development.

Our CBT cone beam technology provides 3-D images of your teeth, soft tissues, jaw joints, and sinuses from every angle. These innovative images allow your Charlotte Dentist to plan implant placement surgery and other surgical procedures like tooth extraction ahead of time, ensuring a positive outcome.

Using these images allows for more precision during your procedure, streamlining and reducing the time you spend in the dental chair and accelerating recovery times.

A panoramic x-ray offers Dr. Shirman a complete view of your smile with all of your teeth at once, unlike bite-wing x-rays, which focus on one or two teeth. This image is helpful for planning orthodontic treatment or looking at wisdom teeth and their development, among other things.

It's not uncommon for patients to feel fearful or anxious about their dental appointments. If you experience this, we encourage you to talk with Dr. Shirman about using nitrous oxide during dental procedures.

Nitrous oxide is also known as "laughing gas." It provides light relaxation and a euphoric feeling when inhaled, which helps "take the edge off" for anxious patients so they can relax and receive the dental treatment they need. Nitrous oxide is safe for adults and children and doesn't leave any lingering side effects once we remove the mask.

Understanding your dental treatment needs is much easier when you can see what Dr. Shirman sees. Our tiny intraoral camera fits easily inside your mouth and allows us to take full-color pictures of your teeth and soft tissues. These images are readily available in our treatment rooms on television screens, enabling you to understand the concerns and evaluate your treatment options.

Digital impressions eliminate the need for using the messy, gooey impression material we had in the past. Instead, we can scan a 3-D image of your teeth that provides a clear image for Dr. Shirman to design the appropriate restoration accurately and precisely.

At Dental Wellness of Charlotte, our treatment rooms are equipped with a negative airflow system specially engineered by Design Ergonomics. The air in each room is cleaned by HEPA 14 filters and disinfected by UV light combined with plasma ionization. The negative airflow components reside in our ductwork, so our treatment rooms are safe, quiet, and comfortable.
