Invisible Braces with Invisalign in South Charlotte, NC

Invisalign and itero brandingInvisalign is ideal for adults or teens who don’t require complex bite issues to be corrected. Instead of using metal or ceramic brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners.

Invisalign in Charlotte fits snugly over your teeth and blends with your smile. Since they are clear, no one will notice them. They’re smooth and comfortable to wear with no pokey wires or brackets.

You can remove clear aligners for meals, brushing, and flossing, so there are no dietary restrictions, unlike with braces. And it’s easier to keep your teeth clean and plaque-free during treatment with Invisalign.

Why Is Straightening Your Teeth Important?

If you’ve found yourself hiding your smile in photos or feeling self-conscious about your smile when you meet someone new, you’ll understand the confidence that having a beautiful smile provides. However, several additional health benefits come with straightening your teeth.Silver invisalign provider logo

  • Easier home care – Correcting aligned teeth makes it easier to brush and floss.
  • Improved bite function – Teeth that are properly aligned can function in the way they were designed.
  • Protection against jaw joint (TMJ) problems – When your bite is aligned correctly, you may avoid the painful symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMD)
  • Less risk of tooth problems – Easier oral care means you decrease your risk of developing problems like tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease.

Traditional Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic brackets and wires are a proven and effective method for moving teeth into proper alignment. Dr. Shirman can also correct complex bite concerns using traditional metal braces.

Early Orthodontic Treatment for Children

Children should have their first orthodontic evaluation between the ages of seven and eight years old. These early examinations let Dr. Shirman determine if your child can benefit from interceptive (early) orthodontics.

Kids with crowded baby teeth may not have enough space for their future adult teeth. Dr. Shirman can make space for those teeth to come in with braces in phase one. Perhaps your little one has a pronounced overbite, underbite, or crossbite. Dr. Shirman can use early orthodontic treatment to correct the bite, so phase two of treatment can focus solely on tooth alignment, making the treatment quicker and easier.

Phase one orthodontic treatment might include:

  • An expander to eliminate tooth crowding
  • Braces to move teeth and correct a bite
  • Space maintainers

Children who can benefit from straightening their teeth, but don’t need early orthodontics, can start braces around age twelve.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Dental Wellness of Charlotte, Dr. Sergei Shirman's training and expertise allow us to offer comprehensive orthodontic treatment, including traditional braces and clear aligners with Invisalign. So if you're not a candidate for clear aligners, Dr. Shirman can still help you achieve a straighter, more beautiful smile with brackets and wires.

How Does Invisalign in South Charlotte Work?

If you and Dr. Shirman determine that invisible braces are right for you, he'll create your customized treatment plan with 3-D imaging. Then, Invisalign uses that plan to fabricate your clear aligners in sets that you'll change every two to three weeks.

Patients who are consistent about wearing their aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day can typically complete their treatment in 12 to 18 months.

What Are the Advantages of Invisalign?

There are lots of aspects of treatment with Invisalign that our patients love:

  • Discretion - The fact that aligners are made of clear plastic means they're virtually invisible, and no one will notice you're straightening your teeth.
  • Freedom - You'll enjoy all the foods you usually love during treatment because aligners are removable.
  • Comfort - Aligners are smooth and comfortable to wear without pokey wires or brackets.
  • Hygiene - Brushing and flossing are simple because you can remove your aligners—no complicated cleaning around brackets and wires.

If you'd like to learn more about invisible braces in South Charlotte and if Invisalign is right for you, contact your team at Dental Wellness to schedule an evaluation.

As a parent, you want to do everything you can to ensure that your little one's smile is healthy. Children should have their first orthodontic evaluation around seven or eight. While this may seem early, some children can benefit from early or interceptive orthodontics.

Phase One Orthodontic Treatment

Candidates for early orthodontic treatment typically have crowded teeth or severe bite concerns like a pronounced overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite. Bite misalignment can cause problems with your child's speech, chewing, dental health, and self-confidence. Phase one orthodontic treatment takes advantage of your child's growth and can correct bite problems and make space to allow future adult teeth to come in with the proper positioning.

Phase Two Ortho Treatment

Then, a future phase two of orthodontic treatment would focus mainly on tooth alignment when your child is 12 or 13 and would be a quicker and more straightforward treatment.

Not every child will benefit from early orthodontic treatment, but having the first evaluation at age seven will give you peace of mind knowing you're on track with creating a healthy and happy smile for your child in the future.
