Bioclear®

Dental veneers have long been a staple of smile enhancement. However, the placement of veneers requires a bit of enamel removal. As a result, some patients are seeking alternatives to traditional veneers.

When considering alternatives to dental veneers, options like dental bonding, teeth whitening, and Bioclear® treatment offer effective solutions. In particular, Bioclear is quickly emerging as an innovative, minimally invasive, and holistic approach to cosmetic dentistry.

Less-Invasive Cosmetic Service

Unlike traditional dental veneers that usually involve some level of tooth enamel removal, Bioclear's objective is to preserve as much of the natural tooth structure as possible. The Bioclear treatment employs a specialized matrix system to address various cosmetic concerns, including gaps, chips, and discoloration without enamel reduction.

The Bioclear process involves the precise application of composite resin to restore the form, function, and aesthetics of teeth with a natural look. Bioclear's gentle approach preserves the tooth's integrity and ensures a more comfortable and minimally invasive experience for the patient.

Bioclear® is a long-lasting composite bonding solution designed to reinforce tooth structure and improve appearance by wrapping the tooth with a strong, injected composite material. Many patients enjoy results that last several years with dedicated at-home care and regular dental visits.

Bioclear is known for its durability, natural aesthetics, and minimally invasive approach to preventive dental care. However, for all of its benefits, it isn’t considered a permanent treatment in the same way as crowns or porcelain veneers.

Understanding How Long Bioclear Lasts

Unlike traditional bonding, Bioclear uses heated, flowable composite and specialized matrices to create a fully sealed, highly polished restoration. This more effectively reduces staining and chipping compared to traditional bonding techniques. Still, like any composite material, it eventually requires maintenance or replacement due to normal wear, bite forces, or habits such as nail-biting or grinding.

For patients with black triangles, chips, small gaps, or worn edges, Bioclear offers an attractive alternative to invasive treatments. It preserves healthy tooth structure and delivers a natural, “wrapped” finish that blends seamlessly with surrounding teeth.

Bioclear® works by selectively removing diseased portions of teeth and injecting composite with compression, eliminating the need to shave down teeth, which is required for installing crowns.

Bioclear® could be an alternative to crowning; however, it varies from person to person. Let our team evaluate your situation to see if Bioclear® is a good fit for you!

Most dentists have been trained to do crowns to protect a cracked tooth. Crowns require the dentist to remove 76% of the top of the tooth, leaving a nub. A crown procedure reduces the size of the tooth until it's small enough to sit under a shell of porcelain that serves to hold the cracked sections of the tooth together

Traditional fillings go “in” the tooth, which can eventually lead to a cracked tooth. Bioclear goes “around” the tooth with a combination of engineered cavity preparations and the patented Bioclear Method.

Many teeth that we would have previously crowned can now be treated with an overlay. With a quick photo and X-ray, we can tell you if your tooth is a candidate for an overlay instead of a crown

Bioclear is not covered by insurance. Dr. Shirman will provide you with an estimate that reflects the complexity and number of teeth involved in your case.

The Bioclear Method is gaining in popularity and is now being taught in several dental schools. Major changes in dentistry and medicine often take many years to reach all doctors. It also takes passion and dedication to become a Bioclear provider. Bioclear-certified doctors and their assistants complete extensive training and studies through a Bioclear Learning Center.
